With no end to the soaring summer temperatures, Marionville Police Chief Mark Webb has launched a program which he is calling “Citizens Check.”

Chief Webb said he was concerned for the citizens in the extreme heat. Some might not have air conditioning or fans, and some might not have family in the area to look after them.

In mid July, Police Chief Mark Webb, Officer Nick Frohmann and fellow officers started going door to door checking on citizens, who responded with hugs, prayers and many thanks.

One citizen stated that it was wonderful just knowing that someone cared. She said Webb and Frohmann had helped her several times in the past and was proud of MPD.

Webb noted letters would be sent to those they had called upon and if the citizens wanted to continue he checking process they just need to respond to the letter.

Webb also commented that the prior week  Frohmann had to put a deer down that had been hit by a car. After contacting the chief and Missouri Department of Conservation, Frohmann notified a couple of families in town who had fallen on hard times and offered them the meat. Both families were appreciative  of Frohmann for thinking of them.

Any Marionville citizen who is in need of a fan or knows of someone that doesn’t have a fan should contact the MPD at 258-7578.
