The Marionville AppleFest Association (MAFA) is in need of all the help it can get for the 2008 AppleFest.

This year marks the 20th anniversary celebration and will have to be a community effort, according to organizers.

“In order to make this year’s event a continuing success, we are in need of fresh ideas, labor and sponsoring from our outstanding and generous businesses, clubs and individuals,” said Kathy Urschel, a spokesman for the group.

“Your ongoing efforts in community help is the only way we can maintain the quality of AppleFest. We have built some momentum over the past few years by including our graduating class alumni, improved entertainment and activities for all ages,” added Urschel.

“Our community members and resources are stretched a bit thin, and we need everyone’s help,” she continued. “Since we are truly a community organization where politics are not involved, we could use your valuable input.”

MAFA members will meet at 7 p.m., Monday, January 28, at the Marionville Fire Station.

“If it is not possible for you to attend our meeting but you would like to be a part of ‘your’ AppleFest, contact Wanda Corning (258-2897), Richard Loban (463-7005) or myself (258-2466),” concluded Urschel.
