Dominic Zanaboni, son of Amy Walker and Frank Zanaboni Jr., is part of today’s inaugural history.
Zanaboni is a junior at Marionville High School and was a member of the 2008 Colts Drum and Bugle Corps. He had the good fortune to be part of an elite group of 120 Colts alumni selected to march in the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Parade in Washington, D.C., today.
The Colts were one of several marching units from across the country that submitted formal applications to the Armed Forces Inaugural Committee (AFIC) in mid-November.
Their selection brings great pride to an organization that has been providing outstanding musical performance and education since their founding in 1963, said a spokesman.
Zanaboni left Saturday to meet the Colts busses en route to Washington, D.C. The group rehearsed Sunday night and Monday in preparation for the parade today.
“He was looking forward to marching again with several of his Colts friends and being a part of such a historical event,” said Walker.
Recently, Zanaboni returned from California, where he marched in the Tournament of Roses Parade with the Bands of America National Honor Band.
While the route for the Inaugural Parade is shorter than the 5.5 miles in the Tournament of Roses Parade, it is unlikely the weather will be as accommodating, added Walker.
