The Summit City Longbeards chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will be hosting its fifth annual Hunting Heritage Super Fund Banquet starting at 5:30 p.m., Friday, June 12, at the Robinson Intermediate School in Aurora.
A meal ticket will cost $15, and membership will be checked at the door.
Members of the the Summit City Longbeards Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will be holding ther annual Jakes Day event 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Saturday, June 6, on the Ron Purgason Farm located about a mile east of Route K on ZZ.
The Fourth Annual Running of the Squirrels 5K Run will be held on Saturday, June 13, in Marionville.
The day’s events will include the 5K race, a two-mile Fitness Walk, and a half-mile Kids’ Fun Run.
Last year’s race drew over 200 participants, and organizers anticipate an even greater turnout this year due in part to the recent recognition of the race in the June issue of Runner’s World magazine.
The 19th Annual Mark Welch Memorial Golf Tournament five-person scramble will be held Sunday, June 7, at the Honey Creek Golf Club north of Aurora on Route K.
Shot gun starts will be at 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
The Aurora Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Mustang Mania Car Show on May 16 under the shade trees at Oak Park on Business Highway 60. The event is in partnership with Ye Olde Mining Days.
With many classes of Mustangs to be showcased, registration will begin at 9 a.m. An entry fee of $15 is required the day of the show. There will be first through third-place plaque awards for each class, along with dash plaques awarded to the first 50 entries.
"Heavenly Quilts," Aurora's fourth annual quilt show will be held May 29 and 30 at historic First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), located at Pleasant Street and Washington Avenue, one block from the downtown square.
The hours for the show are 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is a donation of $3.
The Verona FFA Chapter’s spring plant sale is under way now through May 15, according to Joe Moore, chapter advisor.
This annual fundraiser allows members to put some of their skills to work for the community.

Marionville’s Applefest is just around the corner and organizers need a theme for this year’s big event.
Registration is underway now for an unbiased two-session short course on family estate planning provided by University of Missouri Extension.
The course, "Family Estate Planning," will be held 7 p.m. - 9 p.m., March 26 and April 2 at the University of Missouri Southwest Research Center, 14548 Hwy. H, Mt. Vernon.
The cost for the course is $20 per household for the first session and $30 per household for the second session.
Staff members at the OACAC Lawrence County Neighborhood Center will be holding several life skills classes in the months of March and April.
The Aurora Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Meet the Candidates forum next week.
The event is set for noon, Wednesday, March 18, at Bootleggers Restaurant.
The Business Expo sponsosred by the Aurora Chamber of Commerce is slated for Saturday, March 21, at Pate Early Childhood Center, 400 Terrace Drive.

The Civil War Round Table of the Ozarks has scheduled its second Seminar on the "Civil War West of the Mississippi" for Friday, October 9, and Saturday, October 10th, at the Clarion Hotel, 3333 S. Glenstone in Springfield.
The filing period for candidates for city and school board races in the area will end Tuesday, January 20.
