This Saturday’s recycling event at the city’s wastewater facility will be the last one to take place there, according to Orvil Maples, superintendent of the facility.
The reason for closing the recycling station is that Iron Dawg Recycling has opened at 16 West Mill Street. City officials saw no need to compete with a local business.
The city’s recycling center will be open from 9 a.m. to noon, January 28. Items accepted include: No. 1 and 2 plastics, office paper, cardboard, aluminum cans and steel cans.
The center is located on city property just north of the railroad tracks and adjacent to Highway 39/North Carnation Drive. Just follow the signs.
