Lady Comets win first round, play tonight

The Marionville Lady Comets dominated the first round of the Lady Comets Classic in their match-up with Billings.
Marionville, No. 2 seed, started the game with a large lead and kept the Lady Wildcats, No. 6 seed, to single digits in the first half, allowing the Lady Comets to be up 30-8 at the half.
Jaycie Dishman, Amy Hicks, Aubree Brown and Josie Young were among the scorers in the first half.
In the third quarter, Marionville led 37-8 before Billings scored on a free throw.
Dishman  and Young finished out the scoring for the Lady Comets in the third quarter, allowing Marionville to lead 55-13 going into the final quarter.
Marionville added five points in the fourth quarter and limited Billings to two points on a running clock.
AnnaMaria Maples, Eden Henry and Kendall Minge scored in the fourth quarter. Marionville won 60-15.
Marionville face Cassville, No. 3 seed, at 8 p.m., today. A win puts Marionville in the championship game at 3 p.m., January 21, and a loss puts the Lady Comets playing in the third-place game at 1:30 p.m., January 21.
