Aurora’s Lady Houn’ Dawgs competed against Carl Junction in a home contest February 9.
Aurora took an easy 68-38 victory over its opponents. The night was also senior night during which senior basketball athletes Jessica Smith and Jenna Chad and senior cheerleader Kierstyn Hillman were recognized.
Carl Junction was the first to post points on the board 30 seconds into the game, but Aurora quickly overtook the lead with a two-point shot by Regain Cline and three-pointer from Smith.
The Lady Houns held on to the lead for the remainder of the quarter finishing with 18 total points. Carl Junction posted a total of seven points.
Aurora continued to dominate offensively in the second quarter, scoring another 16 points compared to Carl Junction’s seven. Smith led in points for the quarter with a total of six, followed by Chadd with five, Rachel Parker with four and Kendra Eden with two points.
Carl Junction managed to narrowly outscore Aurora in the third quarter 16 points to 15. It wasn’t enough to overtake the lead from Aurora. The Lady Houns finished the quarter with a 19-point lead, 49-30.
The Lady Houns finished strong in the final quarter, scoring 18 more points. This was the highest scoring quarter for Aurora. Carl Junction only posted eight more points, conceding the 68-38 win to Aurora.
Smith was the game’s leading scorer with 19 points, followed by Chadd with 13 and Parker with 10. Eden finished with a total of eight points, Cline posted four total points and Baylee Hilton also had four points. Shania Siegrist, Lakin Waggoner and Jordan Hall each had three points.  
The Lady Houns added another win to this season with a Big 8 Conference win over Cassville on Feburary 14. Aurora won 55-46.
Chadd led with 17 points followed by Smith with 14, Eden with 11, Parker with nine and Cline with four.
