This summer, residents of The Fountains at Greenbriar in Independence took a day trip to Wamego, Kansas, to visit the Oz Museum. There, they enjoyed learning about L. Frank Baum, the author of the books, the history of the classic movie starring Judy Garland and its many influences on popular culture.
The group enjoyed reminiscing about their favorite personal Oz memories. Said Dorothy Frederick, “I recall watching this when I was a little girl. I never liked the wicked witch scenes, but it was all all right when Dorothy melted her!” Marsha Leizer added, “I always loved this movie when I was a little girl. When I saw the color for the first time in a movie I was amazed!”
The Fountains at Greenbriar, at 2100 S. Swope Drive, Independence, offers an active, service supported lifestyle in a maintenance-free rental community of friends. Onsite care is also available 24 hours a day, seven days a week through Interim Health Care.
