The Lawrence County Historical Society Museum opens for its 2009 season Sunday, May 24.
A special exhibit of school photographs, scrapbooks and memorabilia will be set up that day for those in town for the Mt. Vernon Alumni Reunion, as well as the general public, said a spokesman.

Regular displays include the Hall of Time, which takes visitors through Lawrence County history from prehistoric days to the present.

One exhibit focuses on the county's many links to Harold Bell Wright and The Shepherd of the Hills.
Admission to the museum is free, but donations are accepted. Hours are 1 to 4 p.m. each Sunday and by appointment.

The museum is located in Jones Memorial, just south of the intersection of Highway 174 and Lawrence 1137, alongside the Mt. Vernon Golf Course.
