  • A small group of Marionville citizens were picketing at city hall this afternoon and calling for the impeachment of newly elected Mayor Dan Clevenger.
Clevenger took the oath of office just a week ago tonight. However, he has made some comments to local and national media outlets that do not set well with local citizens.
Utilizing his First Amendment rights, Clevenger has made what some term as anti-Semitic and racist comments. The comments came as he spoke about the alleged involvement of local resident Frazier Glenn Miller (also known as Frazier Glenn Cross) in the shooting and subsequent deaths of three individuals in Overland Park, Kansas, on April 13.
Debra Burgmeier-Bolding, one of those carrying a picket sign, said, "People are saying they will not do business here [in the wake of Clevenger's comments.] It will hurt the city and property values. It makes Marionville look bad to the state and country. I've had people from California and New York calling about it."
"We plan to have more signs on Thursday. We're getting a lot of thumbs-up signs from people passing by," said Debbie Sallee, another of the picketers.
For the small town, traffic by city hall seemed to be heavier than normally experienced at city hall.
