• Aurora wins over Monett, falls to Carthage, Lamar

  • The Aurora Lady Houns tennis team went 1-2 recently with a win over rival Monett and losses to Carthage and Lamar.
    Aurora vs. Carthage
    Aurora went 0-9 against Carthage on August 23.
    Audrey Perrin lost 1-8 in the No. 1 spot, while Sylvana Haley went 1-8 in the No. 3 spot, and Dena Woodall lost 2-8 in the No. 4 spot. Katie Pennell, Taylor Ellingsworth and Ellysia Alley were shut out in their singles matches.
    In doubles action, Perrin and Pennell went 5-8 in the No. 1 spot, while Haley and Woodall went 1-8 in the No. 2 spot.
    Ellingsworth and Alley were shut out in the No. 3 doubles match.
    Aurora vs. Monett
    Aurora went 3-3 in singles against Monett on August 24, while the Lady Houns went 2-1 in doubles for the 5-4 win over the Lady Cubs.
    In singles, Perrin won 8-1 over her opponent, while Pennell won 8-3 and Woodall won 8-2. Haley narrowly lost 6-8, while Ellingsworth lost 3-8 and Alley lost 0-8.
    In doubles, Perrin and Pennel overcame their opponents 8-3, while Haley and Woodall defeated their opponents 8-5. The duo of Ellingsworth and Alley lost 3-8 in their match.
    Aurora vs. Lamar
    Aurora lost 1-8 to Lamar on August 28 with Woodall gaining the singles win for the Lady Houns. Aurora lost 1-8 overall.
    Woodall went 9-8 in singles and forced a tie break, in which she won 7-3.
    Perrin and Courtney Thrasher went 3-8, while Pennell pushed her singles match to 6-8. Haley lost 1-8, while Ellingsworth lost 2-8.
    In doubles, Perrin and Thrasher lost 2-8, while Pennell and Haley went 4-8. Woodall and Ellingsworth lost 1-8.
    In junior varsity action, Alley lost two matches with scores of 0-6 and 1-6.
