Dale Wesley Brown, better known as “Poppy,” 78, passed away July 25, 2012, in his home. Dale was born January 25, 1934, in Aurora to Ada Lavada (Jones) and William Clarence Brown. Dale graduated from Aurora High School. He later moved to Wichita, Kansas, where he lived for 36 years and retired from Boeing Aircraft after 33 years. Dale enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles, especially with his son and his friends.
Dale married Wilma Ash on August 15, 1953, in the First Christian Church in Aurora.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clarence Leon and Wilford Eugene; two sisters, Mildred Pauline and Twila Mae Olsen; and a daughter, Debrah Sue.
Dale is survived by his wife, Wilma; his children, Jerry Dale and wife, Mindy, of Wichita and Tammy Davis and husband, Tom, of Aurora; his grandchildren, James Nicholas Brown and wife, Jody, and Jessica Heather Brown of Wichita; one great-grandchild, Lauren Taylor Brown; a sister, Geraldine Dodds of Hermitage, Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews.
Poppy was respected and loved and will be remembered and missed by the many who knew him.
Funeral services were held July 30 in the Peterson Funeral Chapel. Burial was in Log Church Memorial Gardens near Butterfield.
